Things I Have Noticed Coaching Track Athletes
Here are some random thoughts I had after working with a track athletes. While normally we will see a few track athletes a year, we are getting more and more into the facility to help them with their mechanics and their strength.
While I know that coaches are packed with athletes and are running on limited budgets, I have been astonished to know that basic track drills and mechanical issues go untreated, and as always strength training is ignored. Here are some things I notice
The hardest thing as a coach is having so many athletes at various levels and motivations that you feel lost. Batch the athletes. Give the seniors some better stuff. Coach the juniors to learn deeper and start with what you want at the JV level, they have never seen different and will change without as much struggle.
No reason to keep wasting time.
